I've always wondered how bans work. Do the security people really look out for one person or a handful of people the whole time? That can't be an entirely reliable way to do things. Surely someone can change their appearance just enough to gain entrance, though that's kinda sad if said person goes to those lengths to see a game.
Facial recognition software is incredible. We know a guy who was a card dealer at a casino and after quitting went on to win tons gambling. He was banned from pretty much all casinos. Friends decided to test his story and see if he'd get thrown out of a casino and how long it would take if so. They went to Atlantic City and he was thrown out in less than 5 minutes. He is an older, old school guy with no cell phone so it's not like he texted an old casino buddy so he'd win a bet on how long... Which would have been funny. He didn't use a credit card or anything. But they all said 4 dudes surrounded him and just said "Jim, leave and don't come back."
Would an arena have similar capabilities? Maybe? In NY after 9/11? Quite possibly. But I think they also tag the name and watch for credit card purchases. That's easier. Nobody wants to carry cash in NYC.
And yeah, back door sweep after being down 2-0. The Lightning are a pain in the ass.
