I saw the pinned thread and looked at the calendar. Time to turn over a new page... And hoping that the Canucks get a King's ransom for JT Miller...

EDIT: Also 22-23 season calendar: https://theathletic.com/nhl/team/canucks/schedule/

Canuck's army say they'll get something "north of the Kevin Fiala" trade. Fiala returned the #19 pick and Brock Faber who looks to be a B to B+ level prospect. So I'm hoping something North is many degrees of latitude further north than that. A grade A prospect and a pick in the 10-12 range would be good.

I like Harman Dayal's take on a Miller trade. A 1st, a high prospect and a roster player. Seems to be a fair price and in line with what other teams have got for similar trades. Yes, it isn't equal to JTM but that return plus cap space makes it close all around.

If the roster player is a right-hand top 4 D then the other two variables could change.

Chris Botta reporting the Isles had a deal in place for JT Miller but it fell apart at the last minute.

They just drafted another Elias Pettersson

Like, literally. He’s a defenseman though.

Whoops.

Too bad the Devils didn't draft Jack Hughes, who was also on the USNTDP team back in the day.

Pettersson just posted the Spider-Man pointing meme on his IG stories...

Apparently, JR and PA didn't properly read the memo on the Canucks drafting or picking up the lesser brother --> per Twitter meme
1. Russ Courtnall
2. Rich Sutter
3. Jarkko Ruutu
4. Luke Schenn
5. Jordie Benn
6. Markus Granlund
7. Jussi Jokinen
8. Sean Pronger
9. Steve Kariya
10. Fedor Fedorov

Of course, BB avoided all manner of controversy in 1999 by drafting both brothers in the first round.

Fun moment at the NHL Network draft broadcast, I guess Bruce Boudreau really won people over at the network in his roughly two-year stint, so much so that they arranged for a chance meeting between BB and his favorite pro wrestler, Kevin Owens.

I don't know if BB is the best coach in the NHL, but he's assuredly the most adorable.

If you can listen to the VanCast interview with Kevin Bieksa, do it. Some awesome stories (of course) and just a great guy to talk to; surprisingly humble and microphones seem to love him.

So they did it. These damned dirty apes... Signed JT Miller to a $56, seven year contract... :fffffuck:

They paid a king's ransom for a 29-year old scoring forward. Seven more years of fake one-timers, and blind back-passes to Huggy. Let's see if they grant Bo Horvat the same generosity.

On the one hand, I do believe Miller left money on the table to be here. But the signing for this team, at this point in time is bad. This is a move you make when you think the team can compete for the cup in the next few years. The Nucks are not close to that. This is a Benning type deal, and I've so thought this management was not going to be like that.

Should have traded him for a dman and some futures.

We thought changes were a-comin', but it looks like Allvinford is doubling down on a Quinn Hughes, Thatcher Demko, Bo Horvat, Elias Pettersson, JT Miller core.

That's a good core. They'll probably try to move around the rest.

Not sure they'll be able to afford that core, Horvat may have to go. Or they'll have have to do some fancy dancing to off load OEL.

I keep rolling this around in my head. Clearly there was some sort of demand for Miller earlier, but obviously, the return was nowhere near what Allvin and co. thought was commensurate to the value Miller had on the team now and in the future.

Boeser wasn't mentioned as part of the core by Allvin, and probably will be the odd man out to get shopped by Allvin; conversely, I hear that Garland, the little angry elf, is getting some attention since he's affordable.

I'll be interested to see how well the new guys fit in; if they can improve the PK to bring them to the middle of the pack, that would be huge.

So to start the 22/23 season the 'Nucks list a 22-man roster: https://www.nhl.com/canucks/news/canuck ... -336237656

I was alarmed to see Klimovich listed in there but I think that's for cap reasons so that they can maximize the benefit of Ferland's LTIR. Line-up for tonight's game in Edmonton:
Pearson/Miller/Boeser
Kuzmenko/Petterson/Hoglander
Podgolzin/Horvat/Garland
Joshua/Aman/Lazar

Huggy/Schenn
OEL/Poolman
Stillman/Burroughs

Demko (Martin)

Kuzmenko displaces Boeser from PP1 to PP2
Myers, Mikheyev & Dermott start the season on IR.

Lazar/Pearson/OEL/Schenn draw PK1 duties. Good luck!

So basically one day after Bruce Boudreau sings her praises publicly, the Vancouver Canucks abruptly fired Rachel Doerrie. No word whatsoever was given why. The Canucks have remained silent.

Doerrie, after taking herself off social media for a time, is back, and has also lawyered up.

https://www.hockeyfeed.com/nhl-news/str ... -got-worst

She also has this across the banner of her Twitter page, not sure if it was there before all this but I'm guessing not:

This is just rumor, mind you, but I guess it's come out that Doerrie said on her Staff & Graph podcast that teams shouldn't draft Luke Hughes because of character concerns. People online have naturally concluded that soundbyte may have made it to Luke's brother Quinn, who may or may not have taken well to it. But again, no idea if there's any truth to that whatsoever.

It's no secret that J.T. Miller is an asshole, but man is he laying it on thick...

Compare that with Bowie Horvat's response:

Huh? Are you afraid of how TCL will respond to Miller's vs Horvat's responses to jersey throwing?

BTW- the Dewali warmup jerseys were cool!
