McLellan loses the war against Thornton and Marleau.

A marriage in Toronto with Phil would not be a happy one. Buffalo? Edmonton? Philly?

A return home if the Wings lose the Babcock sweepstakes?

Why???? They're years away from competiting. Babcock would be way better off staying in Detroit.

Sounds like Tippett might leave Arizona, too.

Do you think he'd really want to deal with Jacobs?

That's never prevented them from landing a coach before.

Yes, but I think we can all agree that Babcock is special and can pretty much have any open job he wants, and a couple would probably be made open for him if he asked. I can't think of any other coach other than Scotty Bowman that is/was as highly desired. Other coaches take what is there or if they're really good and lucky enough to have the right timing may have two or three suitors.

If he did choose Boston over Detroit I'll be interested to know what they offer him that Detroit wouldn't, I don't think it will be just the money.

maybe Sharks can get in the Babcock sweepstakes!

McLellan did a good job, the Sharks decline last year was clearly a GM or owner problem.

Babcock, McLellan and Tippett could be on the market.

Arizona, Boston, Buffalo, Detroit, Edmonton, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Jose and Toronto could all be in the hunt for a new coach. (And who knows, maybe Sutter will head back to the farm.)

I'd like to see Torts in Phili..........won't happen but they deserve each other. :P

And have to think ownership in Buffalo has the money for Babacock, building a team from the bottom might be a challenge he'd like.

DeBoer gets the gig.

http://www.tsn.ca/sharks-to-hire-deboer ... h-1.292952

I'm still not sure whether he's just a mediocre coach or if he's just been hamstrung with crappy rosters in FLA and NJ. Whatever the case, this is a pretty "meh" hire.

For what it's worth he was the guy who coached NJ to the '12 Finals.

Apparently he's not the easiest guy to get along with and is notorious for being tough on players. Maybe this is Wilson's way of giving the bird to Thornton and Marleau. "Have fun boys!"

Meh. But maybe with a roster of non-scrubs he can do something.
