It wouldn't surprise me.

I was wondering about Washington, but then wasn't it revealed a while back that he and Ovechkin don't get along or something?

Vegas will do something insane or something

Nothing would surprise me. I could see him wanting to go home. I could see him wanting to go to a contender for his last few years. I could see him going to a crappy NHL team so he could get a huge contract... I could see him staying in Pitt if they'd sign him.

They didn't but then I thought Ilya Kovalchuk brokered a peace between them for the sake of the Russian National Team, they seem fine since.

But if Malkin wanted one last shot while also sticking it to the Pens, that would be the move to make, and Washington could probably do it easily if Backstrom goes on LTIRetirement.

Rust never sleeps: he's back in PGH for 6 years at 5.125M AAV. Signed ahead of Letang and Malkin.

I fear Lamoriello signing old guys like this if they're available.

Letang re-signed, Rakell re-signed, Malkin testing free agency.

Is Hextall the worst GM in hockey? Yes

Hughes swapped McGinn/Blueger for Matheson in the Petry trade and Hex relented.

Then he waives McGinn, dumps Kapanen only ro use the cap space on Granlund, who might be more finished and overpaid than either of those guys.

Gave Jeff Carter money right as he fell off a cliff

Doesn’t help they also went out and got Burke, a guy who seems morally opposed to tanking.

The Pens' owners are pissed.

The Penguins have relieved President of Hockey Operations Brian Burke, General Manager Ron Hextall, and Assistant General Manager, Chris Pryor of their duties, it was announced today by Fenway Sports Group.

Yeah, you've REALLY gotta fuck things up to counter those three having great seasons.

Can't believe I thought Hextall kinda got a raw deal in Philly (though I was revisiting that before his disastrous stint in Pittsburgh), holy shit was he terrible in both places.

I still don't know what Burke was even doing there.
