This is going to be a disaster. The Flyers alums keep wanting to bring back the 70s. They get their man.

This should be a lot of fun to watch from the outside!

I think they’ll grind their way through a couple OK-ish seasons while they slide back into irrelevancy.

Gotta love Philly. The minute they invoked the ghost of Ed Snider when justifying the firing of Ron Hextall, everyone knew where they were headed.

Wonder what the over/under is on Ristolainen landing in his doghouse.

A bit like Rutherford in Van, they think there's something rotten with their core here. The problem is they don't really have a core and Couturier has been seriously injured, but can't stop progress.

Taking calls on Provorov and Konecny, who went from future pieces to scapegoats pretty fast. Who knew you couldn't pin all your hopes on guys in their early 20s?

Speaking of which, shout out Ron Hextall getting canned for being the voice of reason on Carter Hart. The organization rushed him and he's now struggling after a quick start. Just as Hextall likely predicted on his way out.

If there wasn't something rotten before, bringing in Torts will cause something to rot. I know he says he pushes players in hopes that they'll push back, but he's just such a dick. They've got some good young players. If they aren't the sort to push back, this will be a fun collapse to witness.

Now Torts gets Tony DeAngelo to deal with. Two-year/5M AAV extension to boot. Ryan Ellis has barely played since being acquired from Nashville and his career is in jeopardy.

Sorry if I posted this here already but I'll pay money to watch DeAngelo and Ristolainen as a pairing, and then witness the nuclear-level meltdown when they leave a hapless Carter Hart out to dry.

Not enough money for Gaudreau, who wanted to play here, but they'll give out a 4-year-deal to a fighter in Deslauriers. So predictable.

The hits keep coming. Rocky Thompson, who was an up-and-coming coach in the AHL ranks before he stepped down in Chicago due to refusing the COVID-19 vaccine (he claimed it was a "medical exemption" gets hired as an assistant.

Like, how much more shitheel can an organization get? They go and get an anti-vaxxer coach, sign a goon to an untenable contract, the single most-despised player in the league (unless you talk to racist MAGA bros, then he's awesome), and to make room for him, buy out one of the team's most beloved players, a kid who fought his way back from cancer to play in less than a year.

I wish Fletcher were dumb enough to trade away their first rounder because if this team tanks, and they will, they don't deserve a legit shot at Connor Bedard.

Well, took longer than I thought but a month into the season, Rasmus Ristolainen has landed in Tortorella's doghouse.
