The story of the day is Sundin returning to the NHL for Vancouver, and on this occasion it just happens that the two most prominent runners-up square off at MSG.

The Habs' struggling PP will get a radical makeover... apparently Maxim Lapierre's line will be used, and Weber might be inserted into the lineup tonight as well for his first NHL game. No word on who he would be replacing (be it forward or D).

Halak starts again for the Habs.

2-1 Habs. Both Habs goals basically on broken plays involving Lunqvist mishaps.

Apparently Renney is trying to keep Gomez off the ice when Lapierre is on. Other NHL teams fear Maxi.

Maxim was Pierre's monster tonight, and with good reason. He's become a big minute centre, and he kept Gomez off his game. He and Guillaume were also good at creating scoring chances.

A highlight reel goal for Lang in the 3rd - he totally schooled Staal.

The Habs are on a pretty good streak right now, and that's with the notable injuries and Kovy/Plex/Kost/Kost still struggling at both ends.

A solid effort from Halak tonight as well.

I'm feeling pretty good about things right now.

Good stuff. If Gorges' emergence was the great feel good story of last year, Lapierre is the feel good for every Habs fan/player and feel terrible for the rest of the planet story. He's become the player we all envisioned in our wildest dreams.. not necessarily what we expected logically, but what we wished he could become within a little bit of reason.

Oh yeah, Lang makes it 3 hat tricks post-Christmas, and 4 this year. I can't remember the last time the Habs had this many hat tricks. Getting back to the title, "Plan B" has been pretty ace.
