DiPietro would have gotten cheques for 6 more years if he had kept playing. Since he was bought out, he gets them for 14 more years.

Well, Luongo is not an Islander, and DiPietro will keep getting paid by them. He may not have given that deal (neither did Snow, it was Wang), but he traded Luongo away to make room for DiPietro.
