Habs sign Zach Redmond, reportedly in on Kris Russell sweepstakes.

Personally, I've never understood the Redmond hate amongst Avs fans. Good wheels, good hands, but admittedly not the best decision making. But for a 6/7 guy he's worlds better than your average shot-blocking pylon.

Kris Russell would be a mistake, but it's not like Habs fans would care at this point.

Lottery team. Radulov is old now and years removed from the NHL.

Radulov is a funny case: a two-time NHL quitter nearly a decade removed from his last full season here, but his numbers in the K have been consistently great and he has supposedly matured since his coach attacking days.

Pretty sure he won't live up to his expectations, but he's not Semin bad.

Did anyone else read the NHL.com interview with Bergevin? The man is incoherent. Caught up in so many lies and obfuscations, he's unable to give a straight answer.

Reminds me a lot of former Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik. He came in lauded as a mix of old school and new school, but in reality he was a bit player in Milwaukee's front office at the time, and his experience with analytics was way overblown. He came in and tried to build a team around homerun hitters, since he felt it was the easiest way to score runs. It was a flawed plan. He was a con artist with an embellished resume.

Bergevin has a skewed idea of how Chicago won. He says it was a culture that "hated losing." I'd say it was having Kane, Toews and Keith. Potato/Potahto.

Five years is a bit of time so as well as Edmonton, Winnipeg and Toronto have some star talent prospects to give some hope of having the significant pieces needed.

With Weber and Price they should win a lot of 1-0, 2-1 games, but I can't imagine this team beating Tampa or Florida in a 7-game series.

Ironically this seems to be in response to how poorly the team did after Price went down and Condon sprung a leak, but now they look more dependent on Price than ever.

Honestly. How the fuck do Bergevin and Therrien BOTH survive this past season when the team was awful without Price? Either it was built badly or coached badly, or both.

I think there's some truth to tension behind the scenes between Pacioretty and Subban. And instead of diffusing it or figuring out a way to run the team in spite of any perceived division, Therrien doubled down on it. Management and ownership merely backed the wrong play.

The Blackhawks have proven you can have a complete cretin in the locker room (not saying Subban is a cretin by any means, but I'm sure his brashness rubs some teammates the wrong way) and still find a way to unite the team toward a common goal. But if indeed it came down to trading either Subban or Pacioretty, the choice is goddamn obvious.

Analytics guy is out.

I can't help but think this'll be another Philly/Anaheim situation. A terrible front office kept afloat by good drafting/development.

They should sack Timmins so the whole damned thing falls apart.

The Habs have yet to develop a front line player under Bergevin outside of their lottery pick, so that mitigates the benefits of having Timmins.

They have some decent prospects, but no grads yet. Scherbak will likely spend another year in St John's.
