http://www.startribune.com/sports/wild/224964322.html Apparently Dowell's father and brother are dying of the disease, and he has yet to be tested. There's a 50/50 chance his father passed the gene onto Jake. Apparently they can eliminate the gene now so further generations don't have to suffer from it. Huntington's Disease might be the worst disease out there--right up there with ALS and Alzheimer's, but might actually be worse since it destroys body and mind. Seeing pictures of those suffering in the latter stages is extremely disturbing stuff. |
