Lucas Raymond makes the team!

Joe Veleno does not.

Been reading about Veleno's ups and downs. What's his upside these days?

What have you seen? Can you please pass it along?

Seems right now like he'll peak as a 3rd-liner, hopefully be able to skate teams into the ground and kill penalties.

It seems like being a bottom-6 NHLer was basically going to be his floor with his speed and hockey sense. Hopefully some more offense will come. He's still 22 and guys like Tatar and Nyquist didn't light it up in their early days, but I don't think he has their offensive ceiling.

I don't expect him to light the lamp, either, but a guy with that speed, size and smarts should find his place in the league.

Hah, funny, I was thinking of this when the subject of Veleno came up. Easily the worst goal Darcy Kuemper has given up this year, and he knew it too.

I believe he also scored one from a similar bad angle on Campbell during that 10-7 barnburner. Hey, if that's your schtick, go with it.

Oh yeah, the Campbell one was a giant stinker.

2019 6th rounder Elmer Soderblom looks like a keeper. 6'7" monster with 20 goals in 48 SHL games.

Detroit signs Swedish prospect Elmer Söderblom to a professional contract. The 6'8", 249-pound forward played for Frolunda this past season and scored 21 goals and 12 assists. He is expected to spend the year in Grand Rapids this season although he will get a tryout this fall. A pair of defensemen, Albert Johansson and Eemil Viro were also signed.

2021 4th rounder Red Savage transfers from Miami of Ohio to Michigan.

If he don't get at least a cup of coffee with the team that literally contains his name I'll be bummed. We didn't get to see Marty St. Louis don a Blues jersey, Miroslav Satan as a Devil, or Dallas Drake play in Victory Green. We at least did get to see Dwight King in Los Angeles though.

Fucking hell, no sooner does he make his NHL debut then Marco Kasper is done for the season.

A friend was telling me that he already had a busted kneecap when he came over and was playing with it?

So what's the deal with Sebastian Cossa? Is he making progress? Gonna be a while before we make a determination but I always found it interesting that Detroit chose him over Jepser Wahlstedt. It was a referendum, if you will, on what kind of goaltender will survive better in the NHL. Will it be the big, athletic, reactive type? Or will it be the more cerebral type that relies on anticipation and puck tracking? Yzerman ultimately chose the former over the latter.

The Grand Rapids Griffins for one night became the Flying Toasters and they looked AWESOME.
