Their own first, might I add. The one they traded to New York for two months of Kevin Hayes. Not a great deal, but that's life under the salary cap: Pionk is a serviceable defenceman who's relatively inexpensive. They couldn't just move Trouba for futures. Something cool about Trouba: part of the reason he wanted to return to the US was so his fiancee can complete medical school. |

This trade is getting pilloried by those in the know. Pionk's stats are unflattering to say the least. Cheveldayoff is an interesting trader. I feel he goes for the reliable low-end rather than trying to hit a homerun. He probably thinks he'll get a gradual return with Pionk and the 1st. (6-9 years of replacement level players for one year of a sub-elite guy?) |
