Wouldn't surprise me if they're holding out Chychrun without a trade in the works yet. 1. Tanking is easier without him. 2. Less worry about him getting hurt. 3. Makes GMs who want him but were waiting or lowballing think there's a deal in the works so they get off their butt and up their offer. Win/Win/Win if you're AZ.

Henry Thrun is the lastest Hahvahd player to reject the team that drafted him, in this case Anaheim, for free agency. He might go at the deadline to a Boston or New York. It's always Boston or New York.

Clearly you’re referencing A New York team, not all three. There’s one that seems to always be a destination while the other two, well, aren’t.

Three-way deal!

TOR gets: Ryan O’Reilly, Noel Acciari

STL gets: Mikhail Abramov, Adam Gaudette, TOR's 1st round pick in '23, OTT's 3rd round pick in '23 & TOR's 2nd round pick in '24.

MIN: TOR's 4th round pick in '25.

Presumably cap shenanigans as well.

In the end, the Wild took on a pro-rated $1.875 million in cap hit for the rest of the season and about $75K in actual salary. For their trouble, they were compensated with Toronto’s fourth round pick in 2025.

$75k for a 4th round pick! That seems really cheap to me.

Tyler Motte to NYR. Julien Gauthier and a conditional 7th to OTT.

Yeah, 75K in hard cash is a small price to pay for a lottery ticket. Other teams will be eager to get in on that action.

Rangers have been struggling to figure out the right mix on their 4th line. Blais got hurt, Brodzinski fizzled, Motte is a reliable (well, usually reliable, his numbers have nosedived in Ottawa) defensive forward who's shown he can ramp up production in the playoffs. Good get for them.

Let's try this again, my original post was wrong.

Zona trades for the dead cap space of Shea Weber from Vegas, which will allow them to trade players for futures without going under the cap floor.

Zaitsev, a 2023 2nd round pick and a 2026 4th round pick to Chicago for a song. Ottawa gets their man (dumped)!

I know he's collecting millions and what not but it's gotta kinda suck when a contract is so onerous that your team at the time pays another team to take it TWICE.

This is interesting. Dorion is one homme intéressant...in the midst of another lost season he's clearing cap space. For what, exactly? Bringing back Karlsson? Trading for Colton Parayko?

Chychrun is a rumour that seems to be going about, but who knows what Arizona is thinking.

Oh so I guess we're just giving Boston the cup now:

Dmitry Orlov (75% retained), Garnet Hathaway, Andrei Svetlakov to BOS

Craig Smith, 2023 1st, 2025 2nd, 2024 3rd to WSH

2023 5th to MIN

That move is not only massive (and brilliant on its surface, props to Sweeney) but it also means the deal in place that would’ve sent Gavrikov to Boston is off the board. So where does he go now?

Its a 3 horse race in the East if the Rangers score Kane. I would imagine this forces Jersey or Carolina into action...probably not so much Jersey because they are young.

Rags clear money by giving away Kravtsov to Vancouver. The Nucks collect these mid offensive forwards.

I'm not sure about this. I kinda Lockwood, he is one of those players that I suspect will play on third or 4th line for the next 8 years. He's fast, with a tonne of grit. Kravtsov seems like one of those young reclaim projects. Once in awhile they work out but more often they don't, good chance he's back in the KHL in a couple years. Not enough talent to play second line, not enough intangibles to play the grittier defensive 4th line

Lots of moves today. I just watched Eliott break them down and I can't keep up. Of note Nino Neidereiter doesn't even last a season in Nashville and goes to the Jets.

Trades are coming:

Nino to Peg as mentioned
Barbashev to Vegas
Dadonov to Dallas for Gurianov

Meier to NJ all but done.

Dater says the Avs are in on Klingberg but I don’t think he has any insider info anymore.

How about Jack Johnson instead?
