Habs backup situation is resolved, Winnipeg's goalie situation is as stupid as ever.

Peter Budaj and Patrick Holland for Eric Tangradi. Tangradi looks like a NHLer to my eye but will probably start the year in Hamilton since he recently cleared waivers. Analytically he's a good 4th liner who just can't buy a goal in the NHL (basically the opposite of Weise).

Holland doesn't have a lot going for him despite getting a couple of cups of coffee in the N.

Budaj backs up Pavelec in by far the worst goaltending duo in the NHL. New Sensation doesn't get a chance.

Good job, good effort, Winnipeg.

Well, Budaj/Raycroft earned the Avs the right to Matty Duchene, maybe Budaj/Pavelec will snag the Jets Eichel or McDavid.

Poor Ned Flanders. Super nice guy, always a favorite with his teammates, just not really NHL material anymore.

John Lu did a report before the trade suggesting getting rid of Budaj would be bad for the room. The same room that will also have to do without Gionta and Gorges, mind you.

These guys are pros. Budaj is a standup gentleman, but I'm certain he and his former teammates understand the business.

Going forward Tokarski will be a better backup, and that's really all that matters.

Winning games is better for the room than having a nice guy in it. At least that's what I've always thought. I'm a good guy. No NHL team wants me on their roster.

No? I've been fending off offers left and right. But I'm not leaving these benefits, hockey guys!

Saved the Habs from doing it, I guess, and took an expensive AHL contract off of Winnipeg's books. I wonder if they expect there to be a taker (New Jersey?).
